Pre- Season Friendly Match Date: 11th July 2009

Barnsley 3 - Ferencvaros 2

MATCH REVIEW:
The reds first home game in our pre-season friendlies, saw us claim a decently crafted victory against dee-dar Utds Hungarian sister club. The game has a lot of positive pointers for the coming season, including one of the rarest things since the two headed purple ferret, a goal from Odi, well actually they have become more common with two goals in two pre-season fixtures!
It was quite a goal... has he turned the corner?! He stylishly curled a finish into the far corner after some good powerful work to get the shot in, to take the reds back into a 2-1 lead.
Other positives was some good play at left back from Butters, alongside a good combined third goal coming from the youngsters, a lovely cross from Reuben Noble-Lazarus finding the unmarked head of new boy Sodje who powered his header home at the near post from inside the area. Sodje looks powerful, fast and skillful, and is bound to be an asset this coming season.
Bogdanovic put the tykes into the lead with a glancing header in a challenge looping into the visitors goal just before half time, and making it three goals in two games for the maltese striker.
Darren Moore went close two minutes later with an unmarked header crashing against the bar from a Devaney cross.
Butters looked confident on the left wing, and wanted the ball. Went on some nice surging runs down the left. And adds a bit of height to the back four.
The defending was a bit poor for Ferencvaros second, as they pulled it back to 3-2 in the dying minutes, from a Shaw tap in.
All in all, a good positive performance from the reds, with some good displays from the new boys, and the young and up and coming players.
Two wins out of two in pre-season, does make a change! The big test of where we are as a team will come on August 1st when we entertain possibly the richest club in the world, big spending Manchester City, with the like so Robinho possibly in their line up, it looks to be quite an occasion prior to the opening game of the season against big South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
Pre-Season Roundup
Buxton 0, Barnsley 3.
9th July 2009
(Bogdanovic 7, 26, Odijayi 20)
The opening pre-season outing saw the reds cruise to a 0-3 win at Buxton, with two goals from Daniel Bogdanovic, and another from Odejayi saw the reds go in at half time 3-0 up.
Odejayi rose highest on 7 mins, to provide a flick on for Bogdanovic to claim the opener with a calm finish.
It was Odejayi's turn on 20 minutes with a nice finish from 10 yards out, following a mix up in the Buxton defence.
Bogdanovic got his second of the day on 26 minutes. Odejayi again played a big part in the goal as he raced onto a pass from Colace and then squared it to Boggie who put it away with a simple tap in.
