Barnsley 2 - Bristol City 3

The reds looked beaten today by half time despite a first half hour of positive football with plenty of chances to take the lead.
But again at Oakwell we saw the 12th man for the opposition in the form of the referee, as he turned down a blatant hand ball in the area, and then gave a penalty to Bristol at the other end, along with a sending off of Ryan Shotton, both decisions looked dodgy.
Without viewing the match through red tinted glasses, the referee is paid to watch the game, not just run about blowing his whistle, as most in the ground so the hand ball was in the area, but other more dangerous errors saw Jacob Butterfield elbowed about 5 yards from the referees 'attentive' gaze without so much as a huff from the referee. There really is no hope for a fair game if the FA keep turning out these airy fairy officials and think they are suitable people to officiate a football game. I wonder what will happen if Sir Alex has to witness this kind of official on Tuesday, although little chance of a decision going against his team on the night!
Well, rant over, we did attempt to get back in the game with ten men (thanks ref!) and a lovely well placed curler from Adam Hammill brought a bit of last minute pressure on Bristol City. But in the end all the odds were stacked against the reds. We did have some good passages of play and Anderson's involvement brought a turn of fortunes. But we also had a large passage of play where we looked to be unable to play football.
Robins said that his Barnsley team were 'lacklustre' in losing 3-2 at home to Bristol City, whose manager Gary Johnson was pleased to take the points.
The away side appeared to be cruising towards the three points when first-half goals from Nicky Maynard and Evander Sno had the visitors in control.
Barnsley pulled a goal back through Daniel Bogdanovic before Marvin Elliott restored the Robins' two-goal cushion after Ryan Shotton was sent off for the hosts, this decision making it tough for a reds comeback, and in the end consigning us to two defeats in two this week.
Adam Hammill's last-minute goal set up a tense finish as the away side hung on to move up to fifth in the table.
The defeat was Robins' first at Oakwell since he took over as manager and he was disappointed by the performance from his team.
Robins said: "We started brightly and had the better of the early exchanges. That was a game we could and should have won. We just looked lacklustre.
"That's two defeats on the bounce and we don't like losing two games on the bounce."
City boss Johnson said: "I'm very pleased, it's a difficult place to come to and win. I thought our lads played well.
See you Tuesday for big game and a big name at Oakwell, when we will welcome about another 10,000 arm chair supporters, who really should be seen at Oakwell week in week out. Then we will have more funds and more chance of success as a club.
BFCWEB Man of the match: Shotton, played well, and shouldn't have been sent off.
