Barnsley 2 - Ipswich Town 1

Six points in a few days suddenly look to have transformed the reds as something other than relegation candidates, as the excellent run of results continues, fortunately from the very last kick of the game against Roy Keanes Ipswich, (how he is in a job still is beyond me!).

The reds started where they left off against West Brom, taking an early lead thanks to a lovely early strike from the increasingly sharp Iain Hume.

Jon Macken piled more pressure on Roy Keane as he scored a dramatic winner deep in injury time.
Iain Hume had put the Tykes in front early on and Stephen Foster hit the crossbar.

Liam Rosenior equalised with a header after Tykes keeper Barosz Bialkowski flapped at a Grant Leadbitter strike just before the break.

Hume missed a penalty hitting the bar after he was fouled by Tommy Smith, but Macken got another three home points for the tykes from the edge of the box after 96 minutes to leave Ipswich bottom without a win to their name after 11 games.

It took a mistake from Barnsley keeper Bialkowski before Town managed to equalise, although Tamas Priskin wasted a good chance but made a poor contact with Jon Walter's cross and Carlos Edwards scuffed a shot when well placed.

The home side had several chances to win the fixture before Macken did eventually sneak victory for Mark Robins' team in the very last second to rapturous applause from the Oakwell faithful.

Macken himself failed to hit the target just before the hour mark after Ryan Shotton's long throw reached him yards from the Ipswich goal.

Mark Robins told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"We started off brightly and got our noses in front and kept them at arms length for the first half. "They scored a goal that was gifted to them and was a lifeline. In the second half they threw themselves at us and then we sneaked it at the end. "I feel for Roy, especially after what he's been through."

Ipswich manager Roy Keane told BBC Radio Suffolk:

"We just didn't defend the free-kick well enough.

"We had chances and in the last minute their keeper made a decent save and instead of winning the game you're disappointed to get the draw and then we didn't even get that."

BFCWEB Man of the match: Ryan Shotton, making a big difference in the look and feel of the reds back four.
