QPR 5 - Barnsley 2

We arrived in the capital on the back of a mini revival in fortunes, but this was to be undone at the hands of QPR's expensively assembled team in what turned out to be a goal fest of a game.

It was Queens Park Rangers first Championship win at Loftus Road this season and sadly the reds were on the receiving end of a this thumping.

QPR appeared to have secured the three points when they took a 3-0 lead into the break after Akos Buzsaky added two goals to Mikele Leigertwood's first.

But we saw the red make a fight back back into the game just after half time when Steve Foster and Andy Gray brought us within a goal of the hosts. But the good work was again undone as Ben Watson settled the home side's nerves midway through the second half before Jay Simpson made it five with 11 minutes to go.

Mark Robins notably gave full debuts to three of the back four - which saw us two down in 15 minutes. But we werent just spectators as we twice went close with Anderson de Silva firing over and Iain Hume shooting wide.

Rangers went ahead in the sixth minute when Leigertwood chased forward and with no Barnsley defender to close him down, fired a low shot past David Preece from 25 yards.

QPR were two ahead when Watson put Buzsaky in behind the Barnsley defence and the Hungary international tucked the ball past Preece.

It could have been three two minutes later but Wayne Routledge's angled drive shot across the goal and scraped the far post.

But Buzsaky did add the third five minutes before half-time when he collected the ball 30 yards out, looked up and curled a superb effort over Preece and into the net.

It was a sweet moment for the 'Magical Magyar', scoring his first goals of the season having missed most of last term through injury.

Rangers never like to make life too easy for themselves, though, and Barnsley pulled one back at the start of the second half when Foster rose highest to nod Hume's cross past Radek Cerny.

And five minutes later the deficit was back to one when Damion Stewart tripped Adam Hammill in the area.

Gray's spot-kick was saved by Cerny but the ball fell kindly for the striker to tuck away the rebound.

Cerny tipped Hammill's long-range effort over the top to preserve Rangers' lead in the 63rd minute as the reds sought the equaliser.

Three minutes later Buzsaky's cross was headed back across goal by Rowan Vine and Watson's effort was fumbled over the line by Preece.

Kaspars Gorkss's header caused some panic in the Barnsley box and Simpson got the final touch to complete the scoring. A defeat, but the reds showed character in the attempt to get back into the game.
