The bogey side strikes again, our record against Coventry over the last few seasons has been appalling. That makes it now two defeats out of two in the new decade. A win would have seen us close the gap on the play off zone, especially considering we have a game in hand on all the other clubs. But it wasn't to be, as Coventry leap frog us in the table, in what is a very competitive mid table in the Championship with loads of clubs in with a realistic shout of a play off spot this year, its a case of who pulls a run together in this last few months. So, far our own run has come temporarily off the rails.

It was City who returned to winning ways as they claimed a 3-1 win over the reds at the Ricoh Arena.

We approached the game in excellent form, having not lost in the league for eight matches, but bogey side City claimed all the points again.

Freddy Eastwood and Sammy Clingan put City into a two goal lead at the interval, before Jonny Macken scored early in the second half to give us hope of getting something out of the game.

Clinton Morrison sealed in the last minute as he headed home to claim the points for Chris Coleman's men.

Coleman made two changes to his starting line-up, moving out Richard Wood and Morrison for Leon Barnett and Leon Best.

Mark Robins also made two changes to the side that lost 1-0 to Scunthorpe in the third round of the FA Cup last weekend.

Jacob Butterfield and Andy Gray paid the price for the Glanford Park defeat as Darren Moore and Macken came back into the side.

The reds were bright and inventive at the start and Stephen Foster found himself with a shooting chance after only two minutes.

Foster was allowed time and space to fire on goal from just six-yards but Sky Blues goalkeeper Keiren Westwood made a fine block.

Just two minutes later, it was Foster who threatened again when he rose to plant a firm header goalwards, but could only watch in agony as the ball hit the crossbar.

Coventry began to stamp some authority on the game and created an opening in the 18th minute.

Clingan crossed dangerously and Aron Gunnarsson greeted his delivery with a thumping header from 12 yards.

Barnsleys all action defender Carl Dickinson made a great clearance and Leon Best fired the rebound wide from just six yards out.

We threatened the City goal again in the 22nd minute when Hugo Colace hit a brilliant volley from 20 yards and the highly-rated Westwood made an fine save to match.

Coventry then shocked us with two quick goals that looked to put them in control.

In the 24th minute, former Liverpool defender Stephen Wright flighted the ball in from the right flank and Eastwood headed home in style from 12 yards out.

Three minutes later, their advantage was doubled as Clingan volleyed a loose ball into the bottom corner from 12 yards.

Gunnarsson then tried his luck from 30 yards but Tykes defender Bobby Hassell did well to make a fine block.

Robins replaced Anderson De Silva and Daniel Bogdanovic with Adam Hammill and Iain Hume on half time, which made an immediate impact.

These changes breathed new life into the red attacking game and they were right back in the game within five minutes of the restart when Macken headed in a cross from Hammill.

Tykes midfielder Emil Hallfredsson and Hume both threatened for the visitors before Hammill had a shot blocked by Coventry defender Martin Cranie.

Coventry sealed the points in the second minute of added time when Morrison headed home from 12 yards after a fine cross from Best.
