Reds lose out against Ipswich, following an outrageous blunder by Luke Steele, letting Ipswich in to score what was to be the winning goal, in a game which was a must win to get to the play offs.
Ipswich lifted themselves further away from the relegation zone with a victory over Barnsley, whilst widening the gap between us and a play off place.
Daryl Murphy scored Town's goal in the fourth minute, following up a Pablo Counago lob that had struck the post. It was scored mainly thanks to a Luke Steele misjudging a charge out of goal, he got caught out and left stranded, with Ipswich left with an open goal to take advantage of, which they did, hanging on for the win against a 'powder puff' reds performance.
The Tykes struggled to fashion chances, with Filipe Teixeira lashing their best effort over the bar in the second half.
Ipswich manager Roy Keane told BBC Suffolk:
"There was a good reaction from the players. It was a good honest performance, not outstanding, but we will take it.
"We've been under pressure for the last few months, but that's our own fault."
Barnsley manager Mark Robins:
"We didn't get started and were second-best all over the park in the first half.
"We had chances in the second half and huffed and puffed, but it was all about desire.
"There were chances there but we just didn't take them. We were powder-puff."
