Peterborough 1 - Barnsley 2

Back to winning ways in the league for the Barnsley boys. After going behind to a penalty, the reds hit back immediately through Bogdanovic, then took the lead through Jon Macken prior to half time. Holding on to this scoreline for a welcome away victory that see's us put more distance between us and the drop.

Peterborough took the lead with a George Boyd penalty, the ref ruling against Darren Moore for holding Gabriel Zakuani as Boyd's corner came in.

Barnsley took less than two minutes to get back on level terms through Daniel Bogdanovic who fired in a powerful header from Jon Macken's cross.

Macken got on the score sheet himself as he struck his first half winner into the roof of the net to lift the Tykes away from the drop zone. We are now level with a whole host of clubs just below mid table on 17 points, including the two Sheffield clubs. Setting it up nicely for the reds to hopefully leap frog the blades by claiming a revenge victory in the hotly awaited South Yorkshire derby at Oakwell next Saturday, which is also screened live on Sky. But there is definately only one place to see this match and that is from the Oakwell terraces as this promises to be a very fiery encounter, as Iain Hume comes up against the player that almost killed him in the corresponding fixture last year.

Barnsley pull away from the dreaded relegation zone, but posh look in trouble.

Darren Ferguson's side were badly in need of points and spirits rose when George Boyd hit his 10th goal of the season from the penalty spot to give the Posh the lead.

The Tykes hit back in less than two minutes to level through Daniel Bogdanovic before Jon Macken's angled drive clinched a victory which moved the reds towards mid table.

The home side handed a debut to 19-year-old Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Amos as Joe Lewis served a one-match suspension following his sending-off at Blackburn in the Carling Cup in midweek.

Aaron Mclean went close to an early lead but headed wide from close range before Amos made his first stop, saving from a Hugo Colace shot.

Ferguson's side did look positive and went ahead in the 24th minute.

Boyd hit a corner from the right and Darren Moore was penalised for holding Gabriel Zakuani as he challenged for a header.

Boyd confidently stepped up and rolled the spot-kick past former Peterborough goalkeeper Luke Steele to record his fifth goal in five games.

It was just the start Posh wanted, but they switched off to allow the Tykes an immediate response. As Jonny Macken got into space on the right and was allowed the time to pick out Bogdanovic who fired in with a poweful header giving Amos no chance.

The reds then pulled clear before half time as Anderson De Silva picked out Macken inside the area with a lovely pass and he fired an angled ball high into the roof of the net.

Peterborough looked to come back as Lee Frecklington curled over from the edge of the area at the start of the second half before Amos pulled off a fine save to keep the game alive.

Adam Hammill whipped in a free-kick from the left and Stephen Foster got in front of his marker to flick a header goalward, but Amos managed to claw the ball to safety where Zakuani completed the clearance.

Zakuani was then replaced, with Ryan Bennett coming on for his debut, before his defensive partner Craig Morgan went close to an equaliser from another Boyd delivery.

Bennett then headed over from inside the six-yard box as Peterborough surged forward in search of an equaliser but Mark Robins' side clung on to the win.
