Barnsley and Bristol played out a goal-fest 3-3 draw at Ashton Gate despite leading 2-0 within 12 minutes thanks to an Andy Gray brace.

It was an entertaining six goal thriller at Ashton Gate as the sides took a point each.

Barnsley went into a two goal lead within 12 minutes through Andy Gray's two goals, Bristol City came back through goals from Marvin Elliott and Albert Adomah.

We went back in front through Adam Hammill on 51 minutes, ultimately David Clarkson's spot kick gave City a point in Keith Millen's first home game in charge.

Cole Skuse fouled Hugo Colace just inside the area and Gray put away his penalty past David James.

Hammill also fired close with an angled shot just before Gray popped up to get his second goal of the game after 12 minutes and pushed home Barnsley's early advantage.

A Kieran Trippier cross from the right found Gray and he tucked it away from inside the six-yard box.

It was looking good for the reds but then Elliott reduced their arrears in the 19th minute.

Luke Steele pulled off a save to stop Nicky Hunt but could do little to stop Elliott from tapping in the rebound as he lay on the ground.

City were level two minutes later, as Adomah connected with Clarkson's cross to bring Bristol on level terms.

The tykes went back into the lead in the 51st minute as Hammill powered into the area and his effort glanced a City defender deflecting it past the England keeper.

The lead didn't last long again as on 62 minutes Jay McEveley fouled Ivan Sproule inside the area and Clarkson stepped up to fire home from the spot.

Both the reds and City could have secured the three points with late strikes. As City substitute John Akinde fired wide from 12 yards and McEveley shot over the crossbar.

All in all, it looked like 3 points were going back to Oakwell at times, only for a battling City side to pull it back, can't grumble with a point, and a good one for football fans.
