Barnsley 2
Hull City 1

Davies 48
Gray 59

Fryatt 79

Back to winning ways at Oakwell, and a good win against Hull City in a Yorkshire derby, keeping the Reds well in touch with the play off zone in a incredibly tight Championship table.

Hull City could have moved into third place had they overcome the Reds at Oakwell, but the home side had enough in the locker to push aside a side that will be competing at the top end of the table, you really do get the impression of a new stength of spirit that hasn't been present in recent years at Oakwell, and as usual a good run of results could see us sitting in a play off spot.

Things could have been different had Matty Fryatt converted his first half penalty. He got a goal on 79 minutes that put some pressure on the home side, but Hull will be lefting rueing that first half miss at Oakwell. It was more the penalty specialist Steele that kept him out rather than a miss, this galvanised the Reds and we stormed into a two goal lead.

Craig Davies got his second in two games just after the break and then Andy Gray got in thanks to an error from Adriano Basso to put the Reds in command.

Hull tried getting back in the game and Aaron McLean's shot via and ovehead kick rattled the bar, and they did get one back as Fryatt fired in from the edge of the box.

It was a good win for the Reds as they claimed a win against Nigel Pearsons side who hadn't lost since 20th August, Hull had a chance deflected from Robert Koren and then Robbie Brady was brought down by Jimmy McNulty, the ref signalled a penalty, Fryatt stepped up but wasn't a match for Luke Steele who saved to his right for his third penalty save of the season, brilliantly tipping the ball onto the upright.

Barnsley proceeded to rub the miss in during the second half as Davies finished well from an Andy Gray pass to put the Reds in front, Gray was on hand himself as Basso failed to gather a shot from Danny Drinkwater and he got in to tap home to put Barnsley two up and looking good for the points.

Fryatt got in to pull one back for Hull, and in the following pressure on the home side he could have claimed a point but his effort was kept out with some heroics from Luke Steele in goal as he kept his effort out.

Davies nearly got his second of the night having got round the keeper his shot was hacked off the line. But the Reds held on for three excellent points that keeps us six points from a play off position.
