Barnsley 1
Leicester City 1

Butterfield 38

King 46

A goal from Jacob Butterfield put the Reds in front at home in a vastly improved home performance, but ultimately it wasn't the first home win, but gave Barnsley our first point at home, to add to the unbeaten away run this season.

The lead lasted until the break, but just after half time Leicester were back in it as King scored, sven Goran must have put something in the away sides half time cuppa it seems. They needed it, as the team he has assembled for not peanuts failed to look the monies worth again.

Budget Barnsley, but battling Barnsley, showed spirit is a vital factor in success, not just waving the cheque book about.

Leicester did go close twice early on through new arrival and ex Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford before Jacob Butterfield got the upperhand with his diving header on 38 minutes.

But is took Leicester 30 seconds of the second half to level it through Andy King who had just joined the fray as a half time sub, he got his chance following some more good work by Beckford. Chances came for both sides after this, but none were converted to claim the points.

It could have been three points for the Reds in the dying minutes, but for Kasper Schmeichel pulling off some brilliant saves to deny Danny Haynes and Jim O'Brien for Barnsley as they tried to press the last few minutes of home advantage.

Leicester City started the game very lively through Beckford again, as he curled a shot just wide from 20 yards out, and also seeing an angled effort saved by Luke Steele. Fernandes then tested Steele again from 25 yards but Steele was equal to it.

The Reds swung into action in reply as Perkins, Drinkwater and O'Brien all had chances from the Barnsley midfield, then they captured the lead as Andy Grays header cannoned off the crossbar to bounce out for Butterfield to power home with a diving header into the bottom corner.

The away side pulled it level as Jermaine Beckford pulled the ball back to king who fired in his goal from 6 yards.

Matty Done was then kept out by some more brilliant shot stopping by Schmeichel, which was quickly followed by another effort by King but he pulled his shot wide of goal.

The Reds looked strong in the dying stages but Schmeichel kept the threat at Bay from Butterfield, who then crossed in to find Stephen Foster who headed wide. More chances by Haynes and O'Brien late on were kept out by Schmeichel to keep the game level at the end.
