Premiership club Swansea City were the opponents at Oakwell for the third round of the F.A. Cup. Sadly the third is where it ends for the Reds, despite striking first blood in this cup tie, we gave it decent go, but players like Nathan Dyer proved the catalyst for the Swansea victory.

A Ricardo Vas brace wasn't enough against free passing Swansea, it was always going to be a good game of passing football, and we had some good periods in the game, Vas Te continued his red hot form to take his season tally to 12. Vas Te put the Reds in front just on the half hour mark, but this was quickly cancelled out by Swansea in the following minute through Rangel.
We took the lead through a fast paced counter down the left as Craig Davies played in his stike partner Ricardo Vas Te who fired in a rising shot into the top corner of the Swansea goal, the lead didn't last long as Nathan Dyers speed got him in position to play in Rangel who slid in Swanseas equaliser.
Just after the break Swansea took the lead through a well struck long range effort into the top corner from Danny Graham his first of two before he settled the nerves in the 89th minute with his second and Swanseas fourth.
Danny Drinkwater was back in the lineup after a thigh strain, and the Manchester United loanee nearly got the Tykes off to a flying start firing in a testing effort just over the bar from a tight angle.
But just before this Swansea could have taken the lead as they had two chances denied by the brilliance of Luke Steele as he saved twice once from a 30 yard strike and the next quickly out to smother in a one on one with Routledge.
Slightly against the run of play the Reds took the lead after Routledge lost possession on the edge of the Barnsley box, we produced a fast paced counter through Davies who played in Vas Te on the edge of the Swansea area who fired in a rising shot to take the Reds into their shortlived lead.
Just after the break the Welsh side were in front as Danny Graham picked up the ball midway in the Barnsley half, he turned and unleashed a powerful effort that found the top corner in dramatic fashion.
Swanseas wingers had torments the Aston Villa defence the previous week, and they did the same to Barnsley to combine to get the Swansea third, Routledge burst down the left got the better of Stephen Foster and laid the ball back for Nathan Dyer who happily fired home.
The game was still open and the Reds were far from out of it at 3-1 with Vas Te still causing trouble having a couple of efforts on goal blocked. He looked sharp again and looked determined to get his and te Barnsley second, which he managed on 65 minutes, as the Swansea defence failed to deal with an inswinging Drinkwater freekick, Vas Te was on to it as he directed the ball into the Swansea goal, to give the Reds renewed hope, and putting some pressure on Swanseas one goal lead.
We put the pressure on Swansea for the remaining 25 minutes pushing for the equaliser, and Reuben Noble Lararus had the Swansea keeper scrambling to get to his shot which ended just wide.
Danny Graham finally put the game out of reach of the Reds with Swanseas fourth this time from close range following some good work by Joe Allen and Routledge. All in all a competitive and exciting game with plenty of goals and some good football from two good footballing sides the Premiership edge and skill of the Swansea wingers finally proving the difference between the two sides.
