Blackpool condemned the Reds to three successive defeats at Oakwell, with the run of four wins a distant memory. It's consistency we need, and I don't think we'll get enough of it this season to make a mark this time around, we'll survive and with some to spare, but I think most will be looking to next season with the foundation of Keith Hills first year we could storm this division next year with a couple more more signings.

It all looked to be going to plan when Matty Done popped up to get his second of the season and put Barnsley FC ahead. But the seasiders are still strong following their relegation from the Premiership, and are proving to be solid contenders for at least a play off slot.

A Matt Philips hatrick gave the visitors victory, and made it three losses in a row for Keith Hills side, after Matty Done 'did' it for Barnsley from six yards out, after a Jim O'Brien cross on 18 minutes.

Blackpool drew level on 37 minutes courtesy of a poweful drive from Matt Philips, then he followed up in the 67th minute with an even more spectacular effort, as his 30 yarder took Blackpool into the lead after going in at the break level at 1-1.

The Tangerines secured the points on 82 minutes after Scott Wiseman brought down Stephen Crainey, Philips stepped up to claim his hatrick as he put it past Luke Steele in the Barnsley goal, and put an end to a truly miserable day for the Barnsley supporters as this was not the new Barnsley that has excited many times this season.

The win took Blackpool to within a point of the play offs but further drifted Barnsley down the order in the Championship.

The normally on fire Ricardo Vas Te fired in a warning shot earlier on, but he dragged his effort wide, and Blackpool had an early chance from Ludovic Sylvestre with his effort flying over the bar.

The Reds took the lead through Matty Done, but this inspired the work rate of the visitors, and a period of dominance eventually led to the Blackpool equaliser.

The Reds chased the equaliser and both Jacob Butterfield and Jay McEveley had shots on target, but the wind was taken from the sails when the referee awarded a penalty on 82 minutes, which was converted once again by Philips to claim his hatrick and first goals since his spell on loan at Sheff Utd.
