NPOWER CHAMPIONSHIP

HT: 0-1

Barnsley 1
Bristol City 2

Davies 74

Adomah 14
Maynard 90+2

Bristol City snatched an injury time victory at Oakwell through Nicky Maynard. Despite trailing the game until Craig Davies levelled things for the Reds on 74 minutes, it was the home side who were looking strongest at the end before Maynard shocked Oakwell to claim three precious points for the visitors.

It was the first win for Derek McInnes as Robins manager and it gives the Bristol side some hope of escaping the relegation zone in a very tight Championship.

Bristol took the lead as Maynard sent over a long pass that looked to have beaten offside to give Adomah plenty of time to put the ball past Luke steele and the visitors in front.

Craig Davies got his first goal in a Barnsley shirt on 74 minutes as he stroked home from 12 yards out after being found by a Jay McEveley cross.

The Reds took control after Davies' equaliser and it was the home side who looked the most likely to claim the points and condemn McInnes to his second defeat since taking control of Bristol since moving from St. Johnstone. David James pulled off a high quality stop to deny Davies and Stephen Foster went very close with his header.

Butterfield tested James and then the woodwork with some good efforts before he denied Davies his second, before Nicky Maynard was played in to score his fourth of the season and shock Oakwell to claim all three points for the visitors.
