A two-nil defeat for the Reds in front of the SKY viewers, a bad second half where we faded somewhat, but we looked well on top at times during the first half of the game, with Butterfield going close from long range, his effort coming back off the upright. But the Reds were knocked out within minutes in the second period.

Portsmouth got their goal during the second period as Norris fired in and their second followed within minutes thanks to Varney, and the Reds seemed to falter and were suddenly out of it.
