The reds bag Gray after long chase.

Simon Davey has completed the signing Andy Gray from Charlton Athletic, prior to the match at Leicester and should go straight into the side against the foxes.

Barnsley have finally completed the signing of Charlton striker Andy Gray.

The 31-year-old is set to make his debut for the club in Saturday's game at Leicester.

Barnsley manager Simon Davey told the club's website: "It has taken a while to complete (the deal) through no fault of ours."

"But all that is finished and Andy is now in the squad and we cannot wait to begin working with him."

Barnsley's offer for Gray was accepted last month and personal terms were agreed with the player, who has also played for nine other clubs during his career including Burnley, Sunderland and Sheffield United.

We have had to wait to complete the deal as Charlton were in discussions about a takeover and as such were under a transfer embargo.

Davey and reds fans will now hope Gray's arrival can give the team a lift following the two home defeats by Coventry and Preston which sees us holding the division up.

"Andy is a proven striker at Championship level and will bring a lot of experience and hopefully goals to compliment the forward players we have at the club already," added Davey.

Also, Icelandic international Emil Hallfredsson has finally been granted a work permit to play for Barnsley under a season loan deal from Italian club Reggina, he will play in the game at Leicester, but they are still awaiting clearance for Jamaican midfielder O'Neill Thompson, who will move to Oakwell from Norwegian side Notodden FK.
