Barnsley Manager | Tony Adams | Aidy Boothroyd | Barnsley FC managers job |

Barnsley football club have confirmed that Mark Robins is the new manager of Barnsley FC, following long discussions with Rotherham United over compensation levels to be paid, he takes charge of the reds for his first game away at Watford.

After being placed on gardening leave by Rotherham last week after he said he wanted to speak to Reds.

Robins told BBC Radio Sheffield: "There was no going back. It spoilt it slightly as I wanted a clean break away. But it happened how it happened.

"I just want to concentrate on getting Barnsley off the bottom of the table."

"I know one or two of the squad here from my playing days and I am really looking forward to working with them. Hopefully we can hit the ground running.

"We have to get points on the board quickly. We are playing catch-up and our season starts now."

Robins has brought his backroom staff with him to Oakwell, assistant boss John Breckin, first-team coach Steve Taylor and goalkeeping coach Nick Daws with him to Oakwell.

He took over at Rotherham in 2007, and currently lead League Two on goal difference.

Is this a good move for Barnsley, certainly hope so, you would expect a bit of a run with any new manager. Robins does seem very ambitious, its his next step on the managerial ladder, and will want to succeed as much as everyone else connected with the club.
