Fozzie signs new deal with the reds alongside young defender Luke Potter.

Barnsley defensive pair Stephen Foster and Luke Potter have signed new contracts, although Jay Rodriguez is set to return to Burnley.

Fozzie has made over 120 appearances for the Tykes since joining from Burnley in 2007 and he is established as the club's captain.

His contract was due to expire at the end of the season, but he has agreed to stay at Oakwell until 2012.

Tykes boss Mark Robins has also confirmed that young Luke Potter, who has made five appearances for Barnsley, has also signed a new deal.

"We have had some more good news with Stephen Foster signing a new two-year deal and Luke Potter also extending his stay with the club," Robins told the club's official website .

"We are talking to others as well and it is something we want to get sorted before the end of the season."

Meanwhile, Rodriguez is to return to Burnley after scoring one goal in six appearances during his month loan spell with the reds.

Robins said: "Jay will go back to Burnley and I have to thank (Burnley boss) Brian (Laws) for letting him come here.

"He will have benefited from some games and his goal."
