TAGS: Hammill to sign for Barnsley | Adam Hammill | O'Neil Thompson | Barnsley transfer

After a tense wait Simon Davey is set to unveil a double signing of Adam Hammill and O'Neil Thompson. Hammill should sign from Liverpool after a long chase by the reds following his very impressive loan spell for the club last season. A figure has been agreed by the two clubs.

But, in another twist to the transfer Hammill has supposedly agreed another potential transfer with Leeds United, so it could be them or us, lets hope it's Barnsley who can demonstrate the best future for Adam, as a postive he does have a connection with Barnsley FC and its fans already... but does that count for anything in football these days??

Davey has also revealed he is also chasing another left sided midfielder, this player is being kept clsoe to his chest at this stage, don't blame him when you've got the likes of Leeds Utd sailing in your slip stream!

Thompson will also be joining the club after impressing in pre-season and in the Manchester City game.

Listen to Davey on the transfer talk

BFCWEB said last week: "Hammill was impressive at Oakwell, and quickly became a crowd favourite with his passionate and skilful displays, I see his signing as an integral part of any potential success this coming season. He is an excellent player, and would be nice to sign him permanently, but that is relying on Liverpool not thinking he would make the grade at Anfield."

Hammill was impressive down the opposite wing to Jamal, and with Anderson and Colace in the middle, forms are very strong attack minded midfield for Barnsley.

Jamaican international Thompson earned a place in the squad during pre-season with Barnsley and will be unveiled, alongside Hammill in the next 48 hours.

Simon Davey told The Star: "We've agreed a fee with Liverpool for Adam and agreed a deal to bring O'Neill into the club, they're both players I rate very highly.

"It's been really frustrating to sign players, but Adam will be a really good signing for us, he's young and got lots of years in front of him.

"And O'Neil will be another good signing. We were made aware of him through some reports we had from Norway and then Jamal Campbell-Ryce gave him a glowing reference.

"At the end of the day he's an international player and when he's come in he's done well. The criteria we were looking at was to find a centre-half who could play between 20-30 games a season, but the bonus is that he can play a dual role and play in the centre of midfield.

"He's 6ft 4in, composed, strong and has a real presence about him. He's also a very good organiser and, probably not surprisingly, he's good in the air because of his height."

These two players are welcome additions to the Barnsley squad, its been a long wait on the transfer front, but we know Hammill can do a good job for the reds, and Thompson looks like a good addition also.
Bring on Wednesday!
