In favour keeper Luke Steele has signed a new two year deal with the reds. BFCwebs preferred keeper for the reds, we are glad to see him sign up for two years. With Heinz Muller not recreating the solid form of his first year, this is a good signing for the reds to help in this years (hopefully more successful!) Championship campaign.

Steele had looked like quitting the Tykes after spending most of the 2008/09 season on the bench, but he has agreed fresh terms.

Steele recently claimed that he had attracted interest from a number of clubs, however, he is now tied to Barnsley until June 2011.

The former West Brom player initially moved to Oakwell on an emergency loan in February 2008 for the cup tie at Liverpool before making the move permanent the following summer.

Steele has also had spent time at Peterborough, Manchester United and Coventry.

Meanwhile Jon Macken is hoping to sign a further one year deal at Oakwell.
