Barnsley 0 - Preston 0

MATCH PREVIEW :

The reds look to make it six points in two days on Sunday at Oakwell, and claim victory against another Lancashire team, this time in the shape of Preston North End. The reds have to wait on the fitness of Jon Macken ahead of the game against his former club.

Reds team news

Barnsley FC await a fitness check on Jon Macken before the game with Preston North End, the away side have no new injury problems.

Striker Jon Macken will be set to face his old side should he pass the late fitness test, he was taken off during the 2-1 victory at Burnley on Boxing Day after he looked to have had a knock.

Maceo Rigters came on for Macken at Turf Moor and the Dutch striker seems favourite to come into the team as the Tykes look for their second Lancashire scalp in three days.

Tykes boss Simon Davey may re-work his central midfield pairing with Hugo Colace, who was forced to settle for a place on the bench on Friday, ready to re-join the team following his recent excellent displays for the reds.

Dennis Souza should miss out again due to injury and Davey looks set to continue with the solid pairing of Stephen Foster and Darren Moore in central defence.

Iain Hume is a long-term injury absentee with a fractured skull, and Martin Devaney is also still out with an ankle injury.

Preston news

Preston manager Alan Irvine has no new injury concerns to report for the trip to Oakwell.

Defender Billy Jones, midfielder Richard Chaplow and strikers Neil Mellor and Stephen Elliott all missed last weekend's defeat at QPR through illness and injury.

However, all were passed fit for the 2-0 home win over Derby on Boxing Day and Irvine said they came through the game with no ill effects.

Goalkeeper Wayne Henderson and defenders Liam Chilvers and Neal Trotman are still not long termers on the way back, but Irvine has an otherwise full-strength squad.
