Wolves win again, Reading keep up pressure on front two, as Birmingham lose at Preston.
A Bobby Hassell own goal set Wolves on their way to victory over Barnsley and Kevin Foley got the second to give wolves a 2-0 win.
Birmingham could not close the gap as substitute Jon Parkin hit a last-gasp winner and put Preston into the Championship play-off positions.
Reading left it late to see off Norwich 2-0, with Stephen Hunt scoring from the penalty spot six minutes from time and Shane Long scoring to move the Royals to a point off Birmingham and the automatic promotion spots.
Joey Gudjonsson struck twice in the opening 11 minutes at Turf Moor but Burnley had to withstand a Southampton fightback to emerge as 3-2 winners and tighten their grip on fourth place.
Swansea made it five successive draws as they were held 1-1 by fellow promotion hopefuls Sheffield United , Chris Morgan netting a crucial late equaliser for the Blades.
