Championship Review

Barnsley claim spoils against Sheffield Weds, in historic double. Watford jump out of drop zone with victory over Swansea.

Watford moved out of the Championship relegation zone after ending Swansea City's long unbeaten run as Barnsley took South Yorkshire derby honours.

Burnley left it late to snatch a point at home to Coventry City, Bristol City were sunk by an old boy and Crystal Palace stopped the rot at Plymouth Argyle.

Watford proved to be the fresher of the teams to have played in the FA Cup fifth round after a 2-0 home success over Swansea , who had been unbeaten in 16 matches in all competitions.

Tamas Priskin opened the scoring midway through the first half with his fourth goal in as many appearances before Tommy Smith made certain of the points before half-time.

Jamal Campbell-Ryce proved himself to be a derby hero for the second time this season as Barnsley beat Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 at Hillsborough.

The winger struck decisively from the penalty spot in the reverse fixture in October and he plundered the only goal in the return after 38 minutes to boost Barnsley's survival bid.

Chris Eagles hit an injury-time equaliser as Burnley forced a 1-1 draw against Coventry City at Turf Moor.

Leon Best had put Coventry ahead a minute before half-time with the goal only the striker's second in the Championship this season.

Doncaster made it seven wins from their last eight Championship matches after a battling 1-0 home victory over Bristol City .

Rovers striker Paul Heffernan scored against his former club as he followed up his winner against Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend by grabbing the only goal of the game after four minutes.

Crystal Palace ended a run of four straight league defeats with a 3-1 success at Plymouth , who have now failed to win in eight Championship matches.

Neil Danns, Alan Lee and John Oster all struck in the first half for Palace, with Gary Sawyer claiming a second-half consolation for free-falling Plymouth.
