Championship Review

Reds shoot down bluebirds in last minute!
Baggies move to top spot, but Newcastle have to play.

West Bromwich Albion are top of the Championship table after a
4-1 victory over Bristol City at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies knew they could take top-spot with leaders Newcastle not playing until Monday, and Roberto Di Matteo's side made no mistake with a good win.

Cardiff lost pace with the top two as they went down 1-0 at Barnsley with Carl Dickinson grabbing the late winner.

Leicester took advantage as they moved into third and to within three points of Newcastle, as they grabbed a 1-0 win at home to Plymouth . The winner came in injury time through Andy King.

Queens Park Rangers remain in the top-six despite going down to a 2-0 defeat at Doncaster Rovers , who claimed victory at The Keepmoat with second-half goals from Billy Sharp and Dean Shiels.

Blackpool dropped out of the play-off picture after they lost 2-1 to Reading - Brendan Rodgers' first win home in charge of the Royals.

Gylfi Sigurdsson put Reading ahead, but they looked like they would be denied a home victory again when Brett Ormerod scrambled the ball home for Ian Holloway's men.

But Pole Gregorz Rasiak was on hand to grab the winner just eight minutes from time.

Watford continued their good run of form as they secured a 3-0 win over Scunthorpe United .

A Heidar Helguson double set The Hornets on their way, before Danny Graham wrapped up the scoring.

The win takes Watford into eighth, but the Championship remains as tight as ever, with just four points separating Cardiff in third and Preston in twelfth.

Gordon Strachan's Middlesbrough are now lumbering in mid-table after he again failed to pick up his first win in charge of the club as they were held 1-1 by Nottingham Forest .

Leroy Lita had given Boro an early lead, but Robert Earnshaw secured a share of the spoils for Forest late on with an excellent free-kick. Forest remain unbeaten away from home this season.

Coventry came from behind to claim a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at The Ricoh Arena.

Darren Ambrose had given Palace a first-half lead, but Leon Best secured a point for the home side just after the break.

Finally, Peterborough remain entrenched at the foot of the table after they lost 1-0 at Sheffield United with Henri Camara grabbing the only goal of the game just before half-time.

The evening match saw second-from-bottom Ipswich Town held to a goalless draw by Sheffield Wednesday at Portman Road.
